Spiral Dance
My Spiral Dance series began in the early summer of 2020. Quarantining at home allowed me to intimately discover the beauty of the Earth only feet from my doorstep in a way I had never had time for before. Just stepping into the tree line outside my door brought profound calm to me. Walking the trail where I lived almost everyday was like making a new friend. I learned that plants that came and went with each season, even as the path remained the same. My color palette changed drastically from predominantly white to saturated reds, yellow & brown ochres, sap green, Indian yellow, indanthrone blue. I wanted to use the rich colors I saw in the plants and trees. Walking the same trail acted as a meditative labyrinth for me. It fundamentally changed my relationship to the land where I live while helping me channel the chaos of my emotions into my artwork to create something strange and beautiful.
